About this event
Join us for our next Digital Research Luncheon, featuring two projects that use ArcGIS StoryMaps to explore urgent questions about land, memory, and identity.
Sarah Deer and Ward Lyles examine the growing LandBack movement, finding that returns of Indigenous lands are accelerating rapidly across the country — driven not by federal policy, but by private landowners, nonprofits, and communities deciding it's the right thing to do. The research offers planners and public institutions a roadmap for moving beyond symbolic gestures toward meaningful action.
Sunday Adegbreno turns our attention to Sickle Cell disease, the stigma surrounding it, and the possibility of a more honest representation. He centers the voices of people living with sickle cell who are pushing back against harmful labels and reclaiming their own stories.
