- ➤ Last year, Johnson County businesses opened new spots and closed several favorites, and more are planned to open soon. Olathe retailers and eateries (including local restaurants and stores) will add to the region’s evolving business scene this year. Johnson County Post
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ At the Johnson County Museum, over 45,000 visitors joined guided tours, school programs, and community free days during a record year. In 2026, new exhibits + a refreshed All-Electric House display will open to celebrate local history and community connection. Johnson County Post
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ JCCC has grown from its founding in 1969 to become the largest community college in the Kansas City area, and in June 2025 its board approved a new 10-year Facilities Master Plan for its Overland Park campus. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Johnson County has opened warming centers today for anyone needing shelter with snacks, hot drinks + phone charging available at Christ Community Church in Shawnee and the Salvation Army in Olathe from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. KCTV 5
