Kansas lawmakers with bipartisan support are advancing a bill to ban cellphones during classroom instruction in K-12 schools effective by Sept.
1 if enacted, while school districts and parents debate the rule’s logistics (exceptions allow use for students with approved educational or medical needs).
🏛️ Government
Johnson County is cutting two fixed bus routes and scaling back microtransit service — which will now operate only inside Interstate 435 on weekdays — as part of a new transit plan effective March 1, with further improvements to reduce wait times and add routes coming later.
County officials say current STAR bond districts in Overland Park and a planned one in Olathe are much smaller than the proposed district for the Chiefs’ new stadium and training facility — spanning over 290 square miles and using up to 70% bond funding for a $3 billion project.
