- ➤ Olathe's Snow Brigade (a group that has helped vulnerable residents for a decade) is asking for more volunteers to shovel homes when snow reaches two inches. The group normally has about 30 volunteers and will welcome extra help for upcoming storms. Olathe Reporter

- ➤ On Friday, Missouri-based discount retailer Retail Rebel closed its only local store at 873 S. Parker St. in Olathe because of economic challenges, following closures in nearby Belton and Claycomo. Johnson County Post
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The National Weather Service measured 3.5 to 6.5 inches of snowfall over the weekend in Johnson County with the heaviest snow in Olathe and Overland Park. All six county school districts cancelled Monday classes as bitter cold with wind chills reaching -25 persists. Johnson County Post
LIFESTYLE NEWS
- ➤ Alan Heriford from JoCo Auto Repair advised Olathe drivers to check antifreeze levels and battery condition as cold weather may cause vehicles to stall, warning that timely maintenance now could prevent repairs (costing thousands) later. KSHB
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Olathe City Council approved plans on Jan. 20 for Stellar Apartments, a proposed eight-building complex with 280 residential units, a clubhouse and outdoor pool at 133rd and Black Bob (including parking, a dog park and walking trails).
