COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Phase two of building demolitions on Santa Fe near I-35 is set to begin in March — following October’s four demolitions on the south side, this phase will clear 14 tracts mostly on the north side.  Olathe Reporter

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Johnson County Government offers free tax prep help for qualifying residents. VITA operates at the Sunset Drive Office Building in Olathe on Wed, Thu and Sat while Oak Park Library hosts AARP Tax-Aide (appointments required) from Feb. 2 to April 15, and Catch-a-Ride offers transport (donation $6 suggested) on weekdays.  Johnson County
  • Last night, the Olathe City Council voted 7-0 to pledge future sales and hotel guest tax revenue for repaying STAR bonds funding the Chiefs' new headquarters and training facility at the 165-acre site on Ridgeview Road and College Boulevard.  Johnson County Post
