COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Olathe nonprofit Starfish Project, serving hundreds daily, must vacate its space at the northeast corner of K-7 and Santa Fe due to growing traffic and parking issues. It is seeking a new 10,000-sqft site to avoid cutting services by May 2.  Johnson County Post

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Sofia Ball, a senior and co-editor of her school’s newspaper, was named Kansas High School Journalist of the Year on Tuesday* at the Little Theater after receiving a surprise scholarship and now will represent the state in a national contest.  Johnson County Post

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Drivers will be able to use new express toll lanes on US-69 in Overland Park starting Saturday morning, ending a three-year, $572 million project to ease congestion. The lanes use electronic tolling (35 cents to $1.50 for K-TAG users) and designated entry and exit points.  Johnson County Post

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Johnson County Department of Health and Environment is now an official human milk donation drop-off site in partnership with the Oklahoma Mothers’ Milk Bank and the Kansas Breastfeeding Coalition, expanding access to lifesaving donor milk for premature and medically fragile infants. Donations are accepted at the Olathe Health Services Building (11875 S. Sunset Dr.) Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Johnson County
