- ➤ A Lenexa nonprofit named Shadow Buddies gives kids with serious illnesses custom dolls that mirror their appearance so they feel less alone. Created over 30+ years ago by Marty Postlethwait, the program now supplies these companions at hospitals locally and abroad. Johnson County Post
- ➤ On Tuesday, Feb. 20, the Olathe Mayor’s Children’s Fund distributed checks to 16 beneficiaries from its 2025 campaign that raised $229,360 + the fund has now raised more than $2.4 million over 19 years, marking its 20th campaign. Olathe Reporter
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Olathe's first post office (now a Sikh worship center) was added Tuesday to the city's Register of Historic Places, and the building at 126 S. Cherry Street, built in 1938, will soon display a commemorative plaque. Olathe Reporter
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Olathe Public Schools opened the 260,000 sqft Innovation Campus on Thursday at 450 N. Rogers Road — a hands-on training center where high schoolers work on emergency response, culinary arts, construction, and more. Funded by the 2022 bond measure, the campus also houses an esports arena. Johnson County Post

- ➤ The city plans to build a new playground at Mahaffie Pond Park after council approval Tuesday (featuring three slides, a climbing wall and balance equipment) to replace outdated play structures. Olathe Reporter
