BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Arizona-based drive-thru chain Dutch Bros filed plans to open a new location at Grey Oaks (shopping center) in western Shawnee near 56th and Silverheel, where Firestone Complete Auto Care and Liquor House are located. This will be Dutch Bros' second shop in Shawnee, joining sites in Lenexa and Olathe.  Johnson County Post

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Olathe officials explained that property taxes are calculated by multiplying assessed value by the mill levy—information found on the county tax calculator—with most funds going to the school district while the city adjusts the rate to address rising costs.  KSHB
  • State lawmakers and foster care advocates are pushing to change licensing rules that forced an Olathe family to ask their 18-year-old adopted son to leave so they could continue caring for four younger boys— a proposed bill received unanimous House approval while the Senate reviews it.  Johnson County Post
