GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Olathe City Government began renovating city hall, the Robinson administration building, fire administration building and the Community Center under a pre-construction contract approved in October 2024 with Titan Built for $3,575,158 — covering planned facility work. On Tuesday, the city council approved amendments that add a lighting upgrade to city hall and a children’s play area with an updated check-in desk at the Community Center at an extra cost of $820,710 — changes to the renovation plan. - ➤ On Tuesday, Olathe City Council approved contracts for two street projects on 143rd Street and Lone Elm for $18,087,246. The 143rd Street project will repave the road, replace sidewalks and curbs, add a walking path and safety features while improvements on Lone Elm will follow soon. Olathe Reporter
- ➤ The city of Olathe is spending $4 million to build a new animal shelter at the northwest corner of Ridgeview Road and Santa Fe St—replacing its nearly 40-year-old facility that has space shortages and high maintenance costs—because the old building no longer meets service needs. Olathe Reporter
