ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Olathe and Lenexa firefighters responded to a 911 call for a house fire on the 12100 block of South Fox Ridge Drive near West 123rd Street and South Black Bob Road just after 8 p.m. Monday and quickly controlled the flames in about 20 minutes, though one resident—who was checked for smoke inhalation but declined further treatment—will be displaced. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Police said a body was found in a pond on Monday evening near 247th Street and U.S. Highway 69 and they believe it may be that of Jordan Yust—an Olathe man who went missing on March 3 after leaving his home abruptly—and an autopsy will confirm his identity as the investigation continues. Johnson County Post
- ➤ Officials say a body found in Miami County is likely that of Jordan Yust, an Olathe man missing since March 4—he was reported endangered amid a mental health crisis and his gray Honda Odyssey was found abandoned with his wallet inside. Olathe Reporter
- ➤ The Miami County Sheriff’s Office reported a man’s body was found in a pond near West 247th Street and U.S. 69 and said it may be missing Olathe resident Jordan Yust—37 who left home at 11 a.m. on March 3 and whose car was later found on the highway. FOX 4 Kansas City
- ➤ A 15-year-old teen from Johnson County pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession after he brought a gun to Shawnee Mission High School last December—he will serve one year in prison. KSHB
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Friday, March 25, senators Jerry Moran, Roger Marshall and Representative Sharice Davids sent a letter to USPS asking postmaster Louis DeJoy to work on relocating and upgrading the downtown post office. That same day, DeJoy resigned from his role. Olathe Reporter
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Johnson County received $200,000 to help parents and $300,000 for teen opioid treatment to fight rising youth drug use. Mental Health officials said the funding will help parents handle teen stress and may lower drug use— they expect to see results in the next five years. KSHB
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Occidental Management denied reports that the Aspiria campus would be used as the new Royals stadium—saying the firm is not in discussions with the team and is focused on mixed-use development with offices, entertainment and dining, following radio speculation that fueled the rumors.
