COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Olathe officials announced a farmers market starting April 25 in Downtown (and Black Bob Park) and an Olathe Live! concert set for April 30, offering residents fresh produce and live music at these signature events.  Olathe Reporter
  • The final voting for Best of Johnson County has begun (voters who cast 10 or more votes from one email will be entered in a drawing for a chance at $500). Cast your ballots now to help recognize local favorites.  Johnson County Post

EDUCATION NEWS

  • JoCo K-12 schools said they already meet the new state law requirements after the Senate and House overrode Gov. Kelly’s veto. School officials noted that multi-occupancy restrooms are designated by sex while unisex, single-occupancy bathrooms remain in use (meeting law guidelines).  Johnson County Post

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Johnson County ambulance service now operates three ambulances 12 hours a day and will add nine full-time staff to improve response times—county commissioners approved the plan in November and a small fee increase will cover the costs.  KCTV 5
  • Johnson County has received federal approval to issue five vouchers that help homeless veterans access rental assistance and intensive case management (in partnership with the Kansas City Veterans Affairs Homeless Program), and the county will use its Landlord Incentive Program to secure housing units without a wait list.  Johnson County

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • A renovated 1880s-era house on E. Park Street near downtown now offers four rental units for homeless and low-income residents and is the first of 16 units across three locations developed by Metro Lutheran Ministry; it had a ribbon cutting on Friday funded by $2.38 million (federal funds).  Johnson County Post
  • Several apartment complexes have recently finished in Mission and more will start construction soon. Data from local real estate group MMG shows Johnson County made up 40% of the metro’s new apartments built in 2025, boosting local business + supporting community growth.  KSHB
