- ➤ Arkansas chain 7 Brew has filed plans to build a new drive-thru store at West Santa Fe Plaza on the northeast corner of Parker and Santa Fe streets; it marks the chain’s second location in Olathe and sixth in Johnson County. Johnson County Post

- ➤ The 2026 Parade of Hearts art installation will start Monday, Apr. 20 as new 6 ft heart sculptures appear at locations in Olathe, Overland Park, and other spots in Johnson County — locals can search for hearts until mid-August. Johnson County Post

- ➤ Johnson County schools face budget pressures as state special education funds fall short + districts shift general funds to meet obligations while lawmakers plan adjustments before the current formula sunsets in 2027. KSHB
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The city has partnered with K-State at Olathe to offer on-site veterinary services at its animal shelter + K-State intern Heather Moulding and a mobile surgery unit visited in March and April and will perform one final surgery on May 5. Olathe Reporter
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Olathe native Kyle Atkins (an Olathe Northwest High graduate) has been named an assistant referee for the 2026 World Cup, marking his second appearance after working in Qatar. The announcement follows a three-year selection process and he may officiate matches in Kansas City this summer. Johnson County Post
