- ➤ The six-month Olathe Farmers Market season begins Saturday at Black Bob Park—running Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to noon until Oct. 25 and Wednesdays from April 30 to Sept. 10—and offers locally produced baked goods, flowers, produce, plants and more, all from producers within 250 miles of the area. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Martha Wiley and Michelle Mirakian teamed up to create a seven-book series called Kids on the Move that teaches physical science through play—used in after-school programs and local classrooms. Wiley plans to add more titles while Mirakian works to bring the books to local stores. Johnson County Post
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Rep. Robyn Essex of Olathe said the state can offer only limited relief on property taxes since most are decided locally—she explained that a recent House measure shifted funds to help ease the tax burden and expects more reform talks next year. Johnson County Post
