  • Two Olathe homeowners filed claims with the city to fix a stormwater drainage system that floods their homes during heavy rain because the construction did not match approved plans + errors in stormwater modeling were found, and an independent investigator is reviewing who should pay for the fix.  KMBC
  • Johnson County commissioners approved using federal Medicaid funds to hire 18 staffers and expand The Recovery Place into a 26-bed 24/7 crisis stabilization center in Shawnee, set to open in May—providing adults in mental health emergencies with treatment instead of hospital or jail care—and addressing a long-standing need for local mental health services.  Johnson County Post
  • Federal grant cuts terminated nearly 30% of CASA funding on Tuesday, risking services for about 100 of the 400 foster children in our area—advocates urged Kansas residents to email local lawmakers to help restore critical support.  KCTV 5

  • A 10-inch sanitary sewer line broke near Mill Creek Apartment Pond and 1900 Kansas City Road last night and was repaired by Johnson County Wastewater. The Johnson County Department of Health and Environment warns residents and pet owners to avoid contact with local water due to elevated E. coli levels — JCW is testing water quality and will update when safety is confirmed.  Johnson County
