- ➤ Popular paved trails closed during the 69Express project will reopen later this year once work on new toll lanes and improvements is finished. Indian Creek Trail, whose fall reopening depends on a bridge completion — and Tomahawk Creek Trail, set to open in late spring or early summer — will soon offer local residents renewed access for biking and walking. - ➤ AMC debuted its first Extra-Large Format screens at AMC DINE-IN Studio 28 in Olathe and AMC DINE-IN Prairiefire 17 in Overland Park—these auditoriums feature screens at least 40 feet wide and 4K Laser projection, and the chain will open up to 50 such locations by the end of 2025. - ➤ On National Fentanyl Awareness Day, Heidi Tomassi, the Olathe School District's fentanyl and substance abuse education specialist, passed out flyers with resources to students at Olathe East High School. She uses her own experience, as her son Griffin overdosed and survived, to help students learn about the dangers of fentanyl. KSHB
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Johnson County Department of Health and Environment released its 2023–2024 Community Health Assessment online, showing that rising financial stress and housing costs are hurting residents' health while three in 10 worry about their finances and over 85,000 are low income. The county’s Community Health Improvement Plan will focus on affordable housing—jobs with livable wages—affordable mental health care—access to insurance coverage. Johnson County
