- ➤ The Olathe Fire Department is giving away free bicycle helmets to children 15 or younger at the Helmet Rodeo event Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 15123 S. OMC Parkway, with helmets available on a first-come, first-served basis. Olathe Reporter

- ➤ California-based Angry Chickz plans to expand into Johnson County with a new restaurant at Olathe Pointe (14995 W. 119th St.), though officials have not set an opening date for the fast-casual eatery serving Nashville-style hot chicken. Johnson County Post
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Gas prices jumped 10 cents a gallon overnight across the region, with some pumps on the Kansas side near $3.99 a gallon. Drivers in Olathe are adjusting routines (using apps to shop for lower rates) as rising crude costs drive the climbs. KCTV 5

- ➤ Beale Infrastructure’s proposed data center near the northeast corner of 191st Street and South Clare Road will hold public meetings next month, with the first session on May 13 at Wheatridge Middle School (and a virtual session on May 15) to address noise, lighting and infrastructure concerns ahead of its planned 2031 opening.
