  • Third Street Social opened in Downtown Olathe at 139 S. Kansas Avenue as the second restaurant announced in 2024, offering American-style food and a vibrant social atmosphere. It is open seven days a week + weekdays from 11 to 10 and weekends from 10 to 11.  Olathe Reporter
  • This month, several new businesses opened in Johnson County with sushi spots in Overland Park and a bagel shop in Olathe debuting while Mo’ Bettahs and Chuck E. Cheese closed, and more shops are coming soon—keeping the local business scene lively.  Johnson County Post

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Economists say that rising gas and food prices could hit local wallets as concerns over Iran drive up costs. They estimate inflation may jump to 3.5% to 4.5% and extra fees for credit and car loans might follow.  KMBC

EDUCATION NEWS

  • De Soto’s USD 232 expects enrollment to reach an all-time high over the next five years due to new housing and development (elementary growth over 5% and high school over 7%). More students will bring increased state funding even as special education challenges persist.  KSHB

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Kansas farmers were surprised when the U.S. House passed a new farm bill on Thursday to fund $390 billion in farm programs. Local farmer Rick Miller said the bill, which may offer help during drought or flood years, now heads to the Senate + lawmakers seek to improve its provisions.  KSHB
