  • Residents in unincorporated Johnson County oppose a proposed 300-acre data center in Gardner and have signed a petition with over 1,000 names. City Council will host developer Q&A sessions on May 13 at Wheatridge Middle School & May 15 via Zoom, with final review planned for June 15.  Johnson County Post

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Snapshots of America 250 event at Shawnee Town 1929 took place this past weekend near downtown, showcasing 250 years of American history with reenactors and interactive displays. Organizers partnered with local museums (including Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop) to bring diverse stories to life.  Johnson County Post

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Olathe hotels have fewer bookings than expected for World Cup matches in June and July, according to the Convention and Visitors Bureau and regional managers. Hotel officials remain optimistic (CVB vice president Kelly Peetoom) that demand will increase as the first match nears.  Olathe Reporter

  • RideKC bus 510 K-10 Connector service will pause from May 15—Aug. 23 as Johnson County Transit adjusts resources amid fiscal constraints; service resumes on Aug. 24 and riders should check schedule details.  Johnson County
