BUSINESS NEWS

  • Missouri-based Champion Burritos will open a new restaurant at 539 E. Santa Fe St. in Olathe by the end of August — owner Ernesto Aguirre said the restaurant will operate 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Saturdays, offering a menu of burritos, tacos, quesadillas and tortas.  Johnson County Post

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Major closures along US 69 and I 435 in Overland Park will begin this week as work on the express toll lane project nears completion. Ramps at key interchanges will close starting at 7 p.m. Wednesday with durations ranging from 10 days to 24 weeks, and I 435 will fully shut between Quivira and Antioch from 7 p.m. Friday until lanes reopen at 6 a.m. May 12.  Johnson County Post
  • Lawmakers scaled back Kansas’ Affordable Housing Tax Credit—state funding was reduced from a planned $25 million to $8.8 million per year through 2028, earning bipartisan support. Advocates warn the rollback will shrink affordable housing supply and may increase homelessness.  Johnson County Post
  • Overland Park Police held a memorial ceremony Monday to mark the fifth anniversary of Officer Mike Mosher's death; his father—Councilmember Scott Mosher—and police leaders urged everyone to forgive and remember his kind, brave service.  Johnson County Post
