- ➤ Today, Olathe launched the One Pass program to give families and visitors unlimited access to the Community Center, Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm, local pools, and The Beach at Lake Olathe from Memorial Day to Labor Day—prices are $165 for an individual and $260 for families up to five with an extra $15 per additional member. The program is designed to boost local recreation and economic activity as the city prepares for future events such as the World Cup in 2026 and celebrations marking 250 years since the Declaration of Independence. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ County commissioners in Johnson County approved a plan last week to check transit services that may end free bus rides by adding a $2 fare on fixed routes in the northeast—this change could bring in new funds. The plan is expected to earn up to $900,000 a year—staff will work with regional partners to find more money and adjust service and bus branding to Ride JoCo. Johnson County Post
- ➤ The Olathe City Government will close Cedar Lake Park and Cedar Creek Trail for sewer and dam repairs beginning May 19 until 2026. The project will replace the spillway—an upgrade to improve facility safety—and raise the dam embankment three feet—an effort to meet state requirements—and is estimated to cost about $6.5 million.
