- ➤ The Olathe Chamber of Commerce announced today that the Fourth Fridays lineup returns downtown this summer with free events including live music, food trucks, face painters, car shows and kids’ activities scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. on May 23, June 27, July 24 and Aug. 22—promising family fun as thousands are expected to attend. - ➤ Kansas City-based Tiki Taco will soft open its new restaurant in Olathe today at 14947 W. 119th St. and will hold a grand opening on May 27; the menu will serve Cal-Mex tacos and churros topped with ice cream from its local partner (The Golden Scoop) while Friday’s profits go to the Olathe Bike Club (a group that helps high school students). - ➤ County Manager Penny Postoak Ferguson presented a $1.9 billion preliminary 2026 budget at the county commission meeting last Thursday—she described it as a responsible budget that keeps property tax rates flat while adding about $85 to the average homeowner’s bill. The plan funds 52 new positions mostly with grants, and public budget open houses are set for June before a final vote on August 28. Johnson County Post
- ➤ Olathe City Government will sell $228 million in bonds to fund major projects plus these include road improvements, new public safety facilities and sewer upgrades. The first sale will release $159,287,727 in temporary notes to help finance these efforts. Olathe Reporter
