  • Boots on the Ground Midwest hosted a nonprofit fair Saturday with over 50 groups offering workshops and resources to help local organizations cope with federal budget cuts—showing a rising need for volunteer and financial support as summer approaches.  KSHB

CRIME NEWS

  • On Monday, Missouri State Highway Patrol issued a blue alert at about 9 a.m. and Kansas followed a few hours later during a manhunt for Thomas Eugene Tolbert—charged with first-degree assault—after he shot a Lee’s Summit officer who is recovering in hospital; law enforcement received more than 12 tips and is offering a reward of up to $10,000.  KSHB

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Missouri lawmakers introduced SB3 during Monday’s special session to redirect tax dollars from sales, income, and nonresident taxes to help the Chiefs and Royals pay off bonds for stadium projects that must have over 30,000 seats and cost at least $500 million—Kansas is offering STAR Bonds to cover 70% of project costs, though that offer expires June 30 unless extended.  KSHB

HEALTH NEWS

  • Today, the CDC updated its measles travel warning—advising travelers not to fly unless vaccinated—and noted high risks at crowded places like airports and train stations. Local doctor Dana Hawkinson said the vaccine is safe and effective with 64 reported cases in the state, and the Department of Health will update counts on Wednesday.  KCTV 5
