- ➤ Joseph Andrew Wacaster pleaded guilty on April 21 to premeditated first-degree murder for killing his boyfriend Cade H. Blackburn in Edgerton and was sentenced to life in prison—he will be eligible for parole only after serving 25 years. KCTV 5
- ➤ Attorney Peter Goss, who drove the wrong way on a Missouri highway and collided head-on in late September — killing a 65-year-old man and prompting a DWI arrest—remains active in personal injury cases in Kansas as Missouri authorities work on a pending criminal case. Johnson County Post
- ➤ Olathe Police Department is cracking down on red light violations this summer after reports showed rising traffic issues when officers pulled over 20 drivers at the intersection of Santa Fe and Parker in a short time - the department will increase patrols at hotspots like K-7 and K-10 to address both red light running and aggressive driving incidents. - ➤ Johnson County plans to reopen roads closed since 1941 around the Astra Enterprise Park as development grows with the new Panasonic battery facility. County officials said the transportation connection plan will serve as a blueprint for future projects and a public open house is scheduled on June 11 at De Soto's Community Center—meant to improve connectivity in the region.
