U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested Guillermo Lugardo-Valerio, a 35-year-old Mexican national wanted in Johnson County for a parole violation and assaulting a police officer, on June 3 in New York—he now awaits extradition to Kansas.

Johnson County Library is inviting bookmark artists of all ages to enter the Friends Bookmark Design Contest for 2025—submissions are accepted online, by mail or at any library branch until 5:00 p.m. on July 31.

If selected, winning designs will be printed and shared at 14 library branches and Friends Bookstores—winners will be notified mid-August and announced on October 19.
