  • Retired First Sgt. Michael Gainey received his service dog Lilly on Monday morning in Olathe through a 12-year partnership between Hy-Vee and Friends in Service of Heroes—he served for 30 years including time in South Korea and Desert Storm. The program pairs veterans with trained dogs to help with daily tasks.  FOX 4 Kansas City

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Today just before 1:30 p.m., a light twin-engine plane crashed on the roof of a hangar near New Century airport, injuring both people onboard with non-life-threatening injuries—emergency personnel including the sheriff’s office, Kansas Highway Patrol, Fire District 1 and MED-ACT are investigating the incident.  KSNT
  • On Monday, June 16 at 1:20 p.m., a twin-engine King Air crashed onto the roof of a Butler Avionics hangar at New Century AirCenter outside Gardner, injuring two with one later transported to hospital — although no one inside the hangar was hurt — as first responders secured the scene.  KCTV 5

SPORTS NEWS

  • More than 60 graduating athletes from faith-based private schools in Johnson County signed letters of intent last fall and spring and will play college sports at various colleges—covering sports from soccer to football, basketball, and volleyball. Their commitments include students from Bishop Miege, Kansas City Christian, and St. James Academy, ensuring local talent moves on to compete at the next level.  Johnson County Post
