- ➤ The University of Kansas Hospital’s Burnett Burn Center, along with its Olathe and Liberty campuses, treated ten male patients with fireworks injuries — mostly affecting their hands, arms, face and eyes and ranging in age from 6 to 58 — and three were admitted as of 3 p.m. on July 4. KCTV 5
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Residents in Olathe will soon know how their 2026 property tax bill may change as local governments and schools present new budget proposals. Olathe Public Schools (55% of the bill) and local governments (about 19 to 20% each) will share the cost with community colleges covering the rest. Olathe Reporter
- ➤ The Olathe City Council approved plans for utility and sewer services, public street right-of-way, and tree preservation on a 24-acre plot southeast of W. 159th Street and S. US-169—part of a 247-acre mixed use project with 1.5 million square feet of industrial space and 108 acres for new townhomes and apartments— that will offer additional housing options.
