A Roeland Park couple was charged with first-degree murder for the overdose death of nearly nine-month pregnant Alexandrea Hunter on Christmas Eve 2023—both face drug-related charges and are held on $1 million bond as the case moves to a preliminary hearing in the fall.

Dr. Tony Miksa began his first week as the seventh President of JCCC last week and is meeting with faculty, staff, and students to learn about the college's impact—he will also work with campus leaders on the 2025 Facilities Master Plan and lead the next strategic plan in 2027.

Previously, Miksa served as President at Walters State Community College and looks forward to exploring Overland Park with his wife Deb while engaging in local community events.
