CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Amy D. Crouch, a Lenexa woman with a previous DUI conviction, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter while driving under the influence in a crash on Jan. 17 that killed Shawnee resident Tsige G. Mesfin — she faces a sentencing on Sept. 18 with a plea agreement that could see her serve 72 months in prison. Johnson County Post
- ➤ Michael Davin (69) from Olathe was sentenced to 88 months in prison for securities fraud in Johnson County District Court (with a restitution order of $702,694.76) for his role in a scheme with Premier Global Corporation. FOX 4 Kansas City

- ➤ The Olathe Fire Department Water Rescue team completed 11 rescues last week when rising flood waters stalled cars and now is preparing for more rescues as heavy rains continue into Thursday night and Friday—Captain Collins advises calling 911 and staying in your car if stranded—while urging drivers to turn around and avoid flooded roadways. - ➤ Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach said Johnson County’s vote on renewing its public safety sales tax for November is unlawful because the measure exceeds state authority by funding services beyond those for specific law enforcement facilities—he said the county commission is reviewing his opinion and may withdraw the measure by Sept. 2. Voters could see the tax removed from the ballot if the commission acts before the deadline. Johnson County Post
- ➤ On Thursday, July 24th, the county commissioners voted to make the Post the official newspaper for publishing legal notices required by state law.
