On Friday around 7 p.m., Johnson County MED-ACT and Lenexa firefighters rescued a 23 year old man and evacuated kittens from a building after a carbon monoxide leak triggered their detector; the man was treated at a hospital and released while the kittens remained safe.

The city announced it will take over animal control duties from KC Pet Project starting July 30 as part of a new Animal Services Division focused on better targeted response and programs.

Johnson County Community College is launching a new six‐week hybrid course called Navigating College this fall to help first-year, first-generation and undecided students build academic and career skills—students will earn college credit for completing the course.

The Johnson County Parks and Recreation Department announced on Monday that it is revamping Kill Creek Park into its new largest park.

The 3000 acre park, located south of De Soto and bordering West Olathe, will blend outdoor recreation, environmental restoration and historical preservation with points of interest such as streamways, natural areas, the Proving Grounds, Robert's Lake + the existing park.
