- ➤ The son of Olathe mayor died in a crash over the weekend—Brett, 38, leaves behind a wife and five children—and Mayor Bacon is with his family as they cope with this loss. KMBC
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Olathe Police Department will add three new first responder drones for active calls after the city council approved a $240,000 contract Tuesday—trained officers will pilot the drones and they will be stored in city garages with police headquarters on Highway 56 as a likely location—. - ➤ Johnson County Park and Recreation District is designing a master plan to revamp the 3000 acre Kill Creek Park area south of De Soto and west of Olathe over the next 15 years—community feedback from last Saturday will guide plans that include cleaning up a former ammunition plant site and expanding trails. - ➤ The City of Olathe has begun a study to design grade-separated railroad crossings to fix traffic flow along its nine BNSF crossings and address safety issues, receiving backing from BNSF & the federal government. Olathe Reporter
