- ➤ Olathe Public Schools announced it is changing its active shooter protocol before the 2025-26 school year by shifting from the ALICE system to a new approach that emphasizes lockdown and hiding & the district is reviewing plans to repurpose Westview Elementary School into an alternative education site starting in 2026, with community meetings planned for families. - ➤ On Tuesday, the Olathe City Council approved more than $450,000 in grant funding for community improvement projects aimed at fixing local housing and apartments—some funds will assist with rent and childcare needs.
