The Olathe Public School Board of Education voted to close Westview Elementary and repurpose it as a K-8 center for students with social-emotional and behavioral needs—plans will begin in the 2026-27 school year as declining enrollment drove the change.
🏛️ Government
City staff said that in 13 years more than 300 miles of water lines will reach the end of their service lives and cost over $3 million per mile in 2025—city council members call this one of the biggest long-term challenges.
The aging metal pipes are on track for full replacement in 312 years.
