Good morning, Olathe. Here's your local news at a glance for Thursday, the 14th of August.

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Monday night, the Olathe Planning Commission rejected a proposal for a cold storage facility at 175th Street and Lone Elm Road after local residents raised concerns about safety, road conditions, and traffic—resulting in a vote of 5 to 2. City Council will review the project on Sept. 2 unless the developer requests a delay and needs five votes to overturn the denial.  Johnson County Post

  • The city of Olathe will reconstruct five streets in 2026 after the project was delayed from 2023 due to budget restrictions — the work covers improvements on South Hyer Street; South Emery and North Water Streets; East Lakeview, East Wabash Avenues and South Chester Streets; and 107th Street with Cedar Lake Drive.  Olathe Reporter
