Olathe approved a new home for the Starfish Project food pantry near 135th Street and Mur-Len Road on Tuesday.

The nonprofit will move into a vacant (15,000 sqft) building on a 3-acre site and serve low-income families, seniors and foster children amid neighborhood concerns.

Pizza Tascio, a Missouri-based pizzeria, opened on Monday at (1485 E.

151st St.) in Olathe, serving New York-style pizza and slices from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and until 10 p.m. on weekends. A third Johnson County location is coming soon in Mission.

Kennadi Fuhrman, a De Soto High School senior, won $125K after winning the Patriot Games girls' competition in Geneva, Ohio, where she excelled in hurdles and a military obstacle course (including a ninja-style challenge).

She plans to use her award for college soccer and her future coaching career.

Olathe native Reese Messer has been named KU’s starting setter and an All-Big 12 preseason pick for fall volleyball+ she transferred from USC to be closer to home, and coach Matt Ulmer expressed high expectations for her competitive skills.
