Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 22nd of August.
Good morning, Olathe.
Olathe Community Center opened its new Kids Club Wednesday so visitors could work out while their children were cared for.
The club serves kids aged six months to 10 years and allows a stay of up to two hours per day at fees of $8 — $10 per hour.
On Tuesday, the Olathe City Council approved a plan for a million square feet business park in South Olathe at Hedge Lane and 167th Street.
The project—backed by Aspen Industrial Land Fund—aims to attract speculative warehouse and distribution users to fill six planned buildings.
Johnson County District Court Judge David Hauber ruled on Wednesday in favor of Edgerton’s annexation of more than 600 acres near 199th Street and Gardner Road for a planned warehouse project — a decision that ends a five-year fight by rural neighbors and Kansas AG Kris Kobach’s team. Jennifer Williams from Protect Rural JoCo said she hopes to appeal the ruling as local officials maintain the annexation followed state law.
