- ➤ An 11-year-old girl from Olathe suffered serious injuries when she hit a propeller while swimming on Table Rock Lake Saturday at about 3:45 p.m.—emergency responders airlifted her to a hospital in Springfield. KCTV 5
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Maria Varnas received $625,000 to settle her federal lawsuit against Olathe and a former officer after her son, Brandon Lynch, was fatally shot on New Year's Eve 2022—Judge Julie Robinson approved the agreement that ended further legal claims. Johnson County Post
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today the Olathe City Council approved contracts for the city's recycling and waste management services. Recycling increased from 177 tons per month in 2009 to 473 tons per month in 2025 + Waste Management’s proposal was accepted to process recycled materials. Olathe Reporter
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ On Monday, the NASCAR Foundation and Kansas Speedway donated teddy bears to children at Health Partnership Clinic in Olathe to ease fears during visits — Pat Warren delivered the bears while driver Erik Jones spoke with the kids, and a $10,000 check was given to support the clinic. This event is part of the ninth Speedy Bear Brigade that has brought comfort to more than 15,000 children nationwide. KMBC

- ➤ Kansas residents can save for a home down payment in just over 10 years, but buyers in Johnson County face tougher conditions as local home prices near double the state median.
