The Kansas House passed legislation earlier this year to increase penalties for repeat offenders who flee from police—following Tuesday’s death of officer Hunter Simoncic near Kansas City Community College when a suspect crashed his car into him.
The measure will be reviewed by the Senate in January to ensure tougher accountability.
