Olathe residents near 175th and Lone Elm raised concerns about a proposed $670M cold storage facility that a developer said will create 735 jobs but may worsen traffic and affect the neighborhood, and the Planning Commission denied the proposal last month.

The City Council will review bond reports and tax breaks and vote on the project + on Sept 16.

Zen Donkey Wellness Cafe and Juicery, a Missouri-based brand that began as a delivery service, opened its first physical storefront in Fairway at the historic Fairway Shops off Shawnee Mission Parkway in August and now offers organic juices, superfood smoothies and healthy grab-and-go meals plus branded skincare and donkey-themed merchandise. Owner Kate Barker Sternberg said the community’s positive response confirmed the need for a welcoming space and that more storefronts will be planned in the future.
