GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Tuesday night, the Olathe City Council approved the 2026 budget as new construction raised assessed property values. The budget uses a 23.317 mill levy — keeps the tax rate flat — and allocates 71 percent for public safety and infrastructure, which may cause higher property tax bills. KSHB
- ➤ Tuesday, Olathe City Council approved rezoning and preliminary site plans for a new Lineage Logistics cold storage facility by a 5—2 vote amid neighbor concerns over increased truck traffic and safety near Lone Elm Park—officials said the $300 million project will create 200 jobs and keep tax revenue in the city. Some residents worried that the facility’s 24/7 operations and use of anhydrous ammonia may lead to road congestion and potential annexation by Spring Hill. FOX 4 Kansas City
