GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Olathe City Council approved the 2026 budget by a 5-2 vote on Tuesday—keeping the same flat property tax rate while higher home appraisals boost bills by an average of seven percent. Kevin Gilmore and Robyn Essex voted against the measure, marking consecutive dissent on city budgets.  Olathe Reporter
  • Last night, the Olathe City Council approved a $300 million plan for a cold storage facility after heated testimony about the chemicals and risks of lower property values—neighbors voiced strong protests.
