- ➤ GFiber, formerly Google Fiber, now offers high-speed internet in Olathe—service went live in Independence early this year while plans to expand to Blue Springs and Lawrence mean construction will begin by the end of the year with service arriving in 2026. - ➤ The Kansas Corporation Commission approved a $128 million rate increase for Evergy on Sept. 25—less than the $196.4 million originally requested—to cover costs for replacing aging equipment and improving grid reliability, with a typical residential bill for 900 kWh rising by about $8.47 in October. Commissioner Dwight D. Keen objected to a 9.7% Return on Equity for Transmission Delivery Charges. KSNT

- ➤ Education officials approved K-State’s campus master plan, which took two years to develop, to guide renovations at campuses in Manhattan, Salina and Olathe—upgrades will include new buildings and facility improvements at key sites such as Anderson Hall and Bosco Student Plaza. - ➤ Teen mental health groups held an event at Broadmoor Park in Mission on Thursday night where teens shared their struggles and recovery stories, and former Olathe East assistant principal Kaleb Stoppel spoke about healing after a school shooting—his words underscored the power of community support. The gathering ended with a walk of remembrance for Suicide Prevention Month to remind everyone that no teen is alone. KSHB
- ➤ Kansas health officials warned consumers about products containing synthetically high concentrations of 7-OH that are sold in smoke shops, gas stations, online and convenience stores—these products are more addictive and dangerous when mixed with alcohol or sedative drugs. KSHB

- ➤ Chiefs offensive line coach Andy Heck said on Thursday that right tackle Jawaan Taylor must cut down on alignment and false start penalties—an adjustment needed ahead of Sunday’s game with the Baltimore Ravens, and he also praised rookie Josh Simmons and Kingsley Suamataia for their strong performance.
