- ➤ Ten trunk-or-treat events are scheduled in the Kansas City area from Oct. 12 to Oct. 26. Families in Olathe will join celebrations at Advent Lutheran Church on Oct. 18 and at Stagecoach Park on Oct. 24 for festive Halloween fun. FOX 4 Kansas City

- ➤ QZ Poke & Ramen opened its new Olathe restaurant in September at the former taco shop space on 13505 S Mur-Len Road — the eatery now offers customizable poke and ramen bowls, boba teas, and light appetizers as its first Johnson County location and fifth overall. Johnson County Post
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Olathe City Council approved a project in January to improve a section of 159th Street from Mur-Len to Black Bob for safety and smoother traffic flow, and work will begin in 2027. Olathe Reporter
- ➤ Airport officials at KCI have monitored the government shutdown closely, and TSA lines moved quickly on Thursday morning — providing a smoother experience compared to other airports facing delays. Travelers are still urged to arrive early to allow extra time for security checks. KSHB
- ➤ On Tuesday, Olathe City Council members said they were working to fix a stormwater flooding problem that has damaged homes and blocked streets in College Meadows. Homeowners asked the city to repair the failing system and seek reimbursement from the developer — council members promised further efforts to resolve the issue — as they work on a lasting solution. - ➤ Olathe City Council members criticized the state's Lone Elm, K-10 interchange plan, saying it offers little benefit for Olathe and increases safety risks for local children — noting it mainly favors Lenexa's economic growth. Olathe Reporter
