  • Tesolife, a New York-based retailer selling Japanese goods, is set to open its first store in Johnson County at the former Pan-Asia Market space at Overland Crossing shopping center in Overland Park — the store will offer Japanese home goods, health and beauty items and snacks.  Johnson County Post

CULTURE NEWS

  • Jason Chen, a Shawnee native and Mill Valley High School graduate, opened Studio Chen in New York after years of work in design and was featured in Architectural Digest for his talent—he now creates interiors for homes and restaurants that reflect his Midwestern values.  Johnson County Post

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The JCCC Foundation will host its 39th annual Some Enchanted Evening gala on November 8 at the Overland Park Convention Center to raise funds for student scholarships and honor local business leader Jon L. Stewart as Johnson Countian of the Year—local alum Corey Paris will serve as the keynote speaker. The event has already raised $1.5 million this year and continues a long tradition of supporting education in our community.  Johnson County Post

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Johnson County officials announced a safe option for lithium battery drop-offs at the Household Hazardous Waste facility at 11231 Mastin St. in Overland Park—residents must place the batteries in an airtight plastic bag to avoid fire hazards.  KCTV 5

SPORTS NEWS

  • Kansas high school softball tournaments will now take place at recreational fields after state officials shifted the events from Division I stadiums — a change that several players and parents say is unfair compared to boys’ baseball games. Blue Valley has withdrawn its hosting offer — leaving KSHSAA to look for new venues.  KCTV 5
