If you've been following the Olathe school closures, the push to stop them is close to a deadline. Olathe Families United, a group of parents, teachers and community members, is nearly ready to submit its petition to the Kansas State Board of Education to trigger a review of the district's plan. It has already passed its original goal of 6,100 signatures, so it raised the target to 8,200 to be safe.
The group is calling for more transparency about how the district made its choice, KMBC reports. The Olathe Public School Board voted at the beginning of October to close six schools, including Black Bob, Heritage, Scarborough and Tomahawk elementaries.
