EDUCATION NEWS

  • Olathe voters will decide on a $389 million school bond referendum on March 3 to fund new elementary schools, technology upgrades, and building improvements—freeing funds to attract and retain staff amid declining enrollment. The measure was unanimously approved by the school board and will be voted on via mail ballot.  Johnson County Post

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A University of Kansas study found that eastern gamagrass survives drought better than corn because bacteria in drier soils boost its tolerance while corn did not show the same results. Local farmers like Andrea DeJesus from A & H Farm are watching these findings closely as researchers work toward treatments that could help corn use less water.  KSNT
