- ➤ A couple in Roeland Park has started a porch food bank on the corner of 50th and Nall to help families during the government shutdown when benefits were at risk of ending in November + they provide soups, pasta, vegetables, snacks, and dog treats daily from 10-10. KSHB

- ➤ Bella's Italian Restaurant will open its first Johnson County location in Olathe by the end of the month — the new space at 16110 W. 135th St. near Kohl’s and the Olathe Indian Creek Library will serve authentic Italian cuisine with daily hours from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Johnson County Post
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A new 14-bed adult crisis stabilization center opened in Shawnee near Shawnee Mission Parkway and Nieman Road to provide 24-hour care for adults facing mental health crises. Local officials will cut the ribbon on Friday—initially serving only Johnson County Mental Health Center clients while plans call for expanding services along the I-35 corridor. Johnson County Post
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ A 2021 study by United Community Services of Johnson County showed that many local cities are not meeting their housing unit construction goals, with Olathe issuing about 3,400 permits from 2021 to 2024—roughly 200 units below its target.
