  • An 18-year-old teen from the area fulfilled his Make-A-Wish by launching a toy drive for kids at Children's Mercy; Chiefs players Chris Jones and Mike Danna helped fill carts with gifts (over $4,000 in donations) that will be delivered this week.  KSHB

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Bella's Italian Restaurant, a family-owned spot serving classic Italian dishes, opened last November at 16110 W. 135th St near Kohl's + Olathe Indian Creek Library and will hold its grand opening in January.  Johnson County Post

EDUCATION NEWS

  • JCCC is hosting pop-up events this winter and spring to help students and families fill out the FAFSA for the 2026–2027 academic year; students should note the March 15 deadline for FAFSA priority and April 1 for scholarship applications (details available at JCCC).  Johnson County Post

  • Arvest Bank offers a 2026 financial health checklist encouraging local residents to track spending, review credit, update debt and savings plans after holiday expenses. The bank (with 20 metro branches) advises planning a strategy to build more secure finances next year.  Johnson County Post

  • The Olathe Fire Department is offering free drug disposal pouches for safely discarding expired medications; residents can pick them up at the Fire Administration at 1225 S. Hamilton Circle Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  KCTV 5
