  • Agaves Mexican Grill, a locally owned eatery with a seafood focus, is set to open in March at Ridgeview Marketplace (10478 S. Ridgeview Road) near Betty Rae’s. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Conservation groups are planning to restore native woodlands and add urban rain gardens along the Blue River to reduce pollution and flooding (the project includes up to 240 acres of habitat) as the river travels from rural Johnson County to the metro, with funding from the American Rescue Plan Act.  Johnson County Post

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Johnson County Emergency Management is hosting National Severe Weather Awareness Week starting March 2 with daily preparedness tips, including a countywide NotifyJoCo test at 11 a.m. on Tuesday and a statewide tornado drill at 11 a.m. on Wednesday—residents should review checklists to get ready.  Johnson County

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Developers propose to build a new 143-foot cell tower on 151st near Old Highway 56 — the tower would be about 675 feet from the closest home in Oak Run subdivision. Local residents question potential health and property value issues amid ongoing studies on radio wave exposure.  Olathe Reporter
  • Over 222,000 property owners received their Notice of Appraised Value mailings yesterday. County Appraiser Carolyn Logan will present balanced growth trends today at the Board meeting, noting a 6% rise in residential values and planned commercial projects + affordable housing efforts remain a priority.  Johnson County
