- ➤ Lenexa-based nonprofit Care Package Inbound now delivers pre-packed backpacks with essentials to foster children (supporting 25 distribution points) to ease transitions into new homes; it plans to serve 2,000 bags later this year. Johnson County Post
- ➤ Olathe nonprofit Starfish Project needs help securing a new space after it was asked to vacate its current location in February — president Joni Moreland said a promising option was identified and further support may be needed to close the deal. Olathe Reporter
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ A 165-acre field at College Boulevard and Ridgeview Road in western Olathe will be the new home for the Kansas City Chiefs’ headquarters and training facility when it opens in 2030. Local business owners and residents are excited about the new opportunities but worry about traffic and road changes during construction. Johnson County Post
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Kansas Gov. Kelly signed a bipartisan law that will require students to store their cellphones securely until dismissal starting this fall in classrooms statewide. School districts will develop their own enforcement guidelines and allow emergency use of school-owned devices. Johnson County Post
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Olathe North boys won their first state title with a 17-point victory on March 15 at Wichita while Shawnee Mission South girls and St. James Academy girls also secured state championships (all three teams are from Johnson County).
