  • Patients of Rockhill Women’s Center were warned by the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office after alleged financial fraud by Wendy Susan Hopkins led to unauthorized bank alerts—victims from September 2022 to November 2023 are urged to contact local law enforcement.  KSHB

CULTURE NEWS

  • A KC area veteran released his documentary Saving 22 on Saturday to show the struggles veterans face when returning from combat. The film premiered on the July 4 weekend and featured a networking event with charity A Million Thanks—helping veterans with supportive letters.  FOX 4 Kansas City

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Kansas lawmakers plan to extend the state’s bond deal to help fund new stadiums for the Chiefs and Royals; Senate President Ty Masterson said the teams must decide within 60 to 90 days if they want the plan to move forward—further discussions will occur at upcoming ELK meetings.  KMBC
  • Today, Kansas lawmakers will meet to discuss extending the state's STAR bonds offer to the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals if a team moves across state lines—covering up to 70% of a new stadium's cost. The offer expired June 30 but can be extended for another year by a special committee after Chiefs President Mark Donovan requested the change.  KMBC
